May 1, 1935 - September 7, 2022
Ozell (Ozzie) McCollum, 87, of West Hills, California was promoted to Glory on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Ozzie was born on May 1, 1935, to the late Dora McCollum in St. Petersburg Florida. He served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1958.
Ozzie was a Christian man who raised his children in the church. He was successful in several careers including maintenance supervisor, chauffeur, and restaurant management until he opened and operated his own delivery service in Buffalo, NY. Retiring in 2000, being the man that he was, he decided to become a school bus driver. He relocated to California and devoted himself to spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Big O, as he was lovingly called was a friendly man who always had a smile on his face. He had a great sense of humor and loved to sing. He was predeceased by two sons James Leonard and James McCollum. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife Gwendolyn McCollum, 4 sons Anthony (Tawanda) Baynes, Montique (Necole) Williams, Rodney Williams, and Vance Williams; four daughters Debra (Keith) Gomez, Constance (Donald) Graham, Cheryl McCollum and Euleen Williams. Ozzie also leaves to mourn his passing 37 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 7 great, great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
He has left a lasting impact on all those he encountered. He will be greatly missed. We love you honey!
