She was born in New York City (Manhattan as she liked to point out), and raised by her Mother Agnes along with her brother John and three sisters Agnes, Marie and Patricia (Jean was the youngest, which she also pointed out, every chance she had 😊). Family was very important to Jean and kept up with her sisters on her weekly Saturday calls to keep up with all the family comings and goings of her nieces, nephews and extended family. She was always mindful of special occasions and diligent in her efforts to send cards to all - throughout the year.
Jean was married to Duane James Cooper for an eventful 63 years. They moved from east to west coast and a few states in-between, landing in sunny California where they remained for the last 43 years. Jean was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church, and was an accredited flower show judge and president of the Judges Council of Southern California. Last count she planted some 36+ rosebushes in her home garden, thanks to the men in the family for digging holes and withstanding the thorns and thistles along the way 😊 She also participated in many other clubs along the way such as; quilting clubs, YMCA swim groups, several Garden Clubs and was thankful for the many rich and meaningful friendships she had.
We are reassured she was received in a beautiful place and in His loving arms. Be encouraged and prepare your heart thru belief in Christ to be joined together, once again.
Jean is survived by her husband Duane, her sisters Patricia and Marie, and children Phillip, Ellen and Jonathan as well as 5 grandchildren Steven, Benjamin, Mathew, Caroline, and Michelle, grandson-in-law Tim, and her great-grandson Nicholas. Jean’ passing was preceded by her son James, her sister Agnes, and her brother Joseph.
