Ralph was born on June 16, 1928 in Campbellton, N.B. to the late Murdoch Mann and the late Merinda Callaghan.
Ralph and his brother, Donald, became business partners at a young age first purchasing Restigouche Nurseries Flower Shop and later establishing Mann Bros. Garden Center where his wife, Kay, played a pivotal role in the businesses. Although Isabel had a teaching career she too, when time allowed, worked in the family affair. To Ralph, Isabel was like a sister and confidant. The foursome had their own passions but always in the end counted on each other through thick and thin. Ralph loved the outdoors as a young man and enjoyed downhill skiing and as well, cross-country skiing and skating with Kay. He loved playing 45’s and loved singing and dancing. Summer vacations to P.E.I. with the family were a must, as this was the time he could relax and unwind from the demands of the family business.
Ralph too loved his First United Church which played an instrumental role in his life from his very young age. He was the most senior member of the church choir which he thoroughly enjoyed. He belonged to various church groups and committees over the years. Ralph was a long-time member of the Mason’s as well as the U.C.T. He volunteered at the Village Nursing Home for years overseeing the church services. Ralph took great pride in the annual Christmas decorating of the First United Church at Christmas time, even partaking in this ritual this last Christmas at the age of 95. He knew where each decoration belonged. He did this from a very young age. Ralph will be remembered at the singalongs at the church and house parties with sleigh bells in hand. You can still hear them ringing. Ralph loved bowling for many years even up until the last few years.
Most of all Ralph loved his beloved “Rose” and the last thing he said was that they had a good life together and they surely did!
The family would like to thank the staff at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home for all the care and compassion they provided.
He is survived by his children Wayne (Charlene), Janet (David) and predeceased by his son, Kevin (Wendy).
