Passed away at Campbellton Regional Hospital on December 21, 2022, at the age of 83, Michael Mahoney of Campbellton, husband of the late Margot (Floyd) Mahoney, and common law partner of the late Lucille Gallant.
Born in Kedgwick River, NB, on July 25, 1939, son of the late Patricia (Broderick) Mahoney and the late Norbert Mahoney.
He is survived by his son Stephen (Lorraine) of Whitby, Ontario, his sisters Donna Mahoney of London, Ontario, Linda Abbott of Calgary, Alberta, twin sister Alice Murphy of Orillia, Ontario and brother Bernie Mahoney of Fort Erie, Ontario, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother Alexander, brother Charlie, and sister Lois.
Mike was well known as a man with a huge heart, a strong work ethic and boundless energy. He worked most of his life as an electrician both at Fraser’s mill in Atholville, N.B. and as a small business contractor. In addition, he was a lifelong lover of hockey as a player on the Campbellton Tigers, a minor hockey coach, a member of the Campbellton Old Timer’s hockey league and a devoted Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan.
He adored his grandchildren, Isabel and Maeve and treasured the time he spent with them. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and many friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Campbellton on Friday June 16, 2023 at 11:00 am.
Visitations will be held at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St., Campbellton on Friday from 10:00 am until time of funeral.
