Simone Yvette Irene Marie Gaetz

Yvette Irene (Lafond) Gaetz Born December 29, 1938, in Laventure Sask. She passed away peacefully with family by her side.

Yvette grew up on the family farm in Saskatchewan and moved to Port Alberni in the late 1950’s where she met and married Simon Gaetz in 1958. After 60 years they moved to Campbell River to be closer to family and spend their last years at Evergreen Seniors Care Home.

Yvette worked at the Bank of Montreal and Woodwards for most of her working career. Her favorite pastime was spending time doing ceramics, enjoying time with her children and grandchildren and traveling to see family and friends in Alberta and Saskatchewan. She was busy over the years volunteering for the MS society, CWL and the Ladies Auxiliary for Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Dept.

Yvette is survived by her Children- Elaine (Gordon) Marcel (Salena), Alan, Wayne. Grandchildren- Matthew (Sabrina), Kevin (Sandie), Andrew (Tamera) Tiah (Brian), Britney (Justin) Alex (Tea). Great-grandchildren River, Liam, Willow, Hunter, Quinn. Sisters Noella Francoeur, Muriel Francoeur (Rene) brother Real Lafond (Darlene) In laws Joe (Christine), John, Francis (Barbara) sister-in-law Laurette Lafond and numerous an nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her husband Simon, her parents Armand and Albertine Lafond, sister Rolland Turgeon brothers Gerald, Lionel, Fernand, Toby, Norman and niece Angel Turgeon and nephew Ivan Francoeur and many in-laws.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the fabulous Evergreen family for their loving care to Yvette during her last years. We so appreciate you all!! Thank you to Dr. Walker for his care and kindness.

A joint Funeral Service for Yvette and Simon will be held in Campbell River on Sept 9,2023 at 11:00 am, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 34 South Alder Street.
