Duane was born in Vancouver, BC on November 24, 1957 to parents Frank and Marlene. He was proud to have grown up in ‘East Van’ where he made lifelong friendships. He was an exceptional athlete who had a love for all sports including baseball, which he often shared fond memories of. Duane thoroughly enjoyed being a chauffeur for most of his professional life. His character and way of being was a perfect fit. He was charismatic, outgoing, kind and had a special zest for life. His personality was infectious. He was well known for playing “the spoons”, making anyone laugh or smile, and was truly larger than life. Duane’s love for the sun, sand and ocean took him to see other parts of the world. He worked hard and played hard. Family and friends were everything to him. His daughter Jaclyn was his pride and joy. He is cherished by so many, all who meant so much to him, and he will be deeply missed beyond measure.
He will be forever remembered by his daughter Jaclyn (Brendan) and his partner Gizelle and her son Dylan. His siblings Gary, Darlene and Debbie, and his nieces and nephew Breanne, Candice, Brittany, Desiree, Tereza and Mile. He will also be lovingly remembered by his extended family and dear friends. Duane is now in peace, alongside his mother and father, his nephew Frankie who he treasured, and other family members who have passed before him.
A Celebration of Duane’s life will be held Sunday, February 9th between 12:00-4:00 at the Army Navy & Air Force Veterans Unit 26, - 727 E 49th Ave, Vancouver, BC (off Fraser St). Please be aware of limited street parking.
