Born December 16, 1960, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Genevieve (Staveckas) Petrash.
Cathy was a graduate of Central Dauphin East High School. She served as secretary to former Lieutenant Governor Mark Schweiker, Governor Tom Ridge, and Senator Robert Jubelirer and retired at the Pennsylvania Board of Pardons. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, watching her favorite TV shows and spending holidays and quality time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, Francis Petrash, and her late husband, Kenneth Schmidt.
Surviving is her daughter, Lauren Schmidt, and fiancé, Brendan Mangan, of Havertown; a sister, Bonita Weary and husband, Denny, of Milton, Delaware; a sister, Mary Jo Oxenford, of Harrisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022 from 9:00-10:00am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church; 3435 E Trindle Rd, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00am. Burial services will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery; 4075 Derry St, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
