Myrtle was born August 13th, 1939, in Belfast, Northern Ireland. As a child she was a dance student and loved music. She would marry her husband John and together they had 4 children and 64 years of marriage. In November of 1974 the family immigrated to Canada and settled in Cambridge, Ontario. Myrtle would raise her children and in her spare time continued her love for music with her favorite artist being Frank Sinatra. Myrtle enjoyed travelling back to Ireland with John as her children grew to adulthood. She enjoyed her grandchildren and took pride in her family’s accomplishments in her own unique way. Myrtle enjoyed her garden and was a very private lady with a unique sense of humor.
Myrtle is survived by her husband John of 64 years and children Steven (Janine), Craig (Jes), Janice, (Eric) and 8 grandchildren, Brogan, Georgia, Christian, Noah, Ashley, Emily, Kyle and Kaelyn. Myrtle has a sister Margaret (Billy) and brother Danny (Vivienne) living in Orangeville, Ontario and Scotland, UK. Myrtle is predeceased by her son John and parents Daniel Boyd and Susan (Allan), sisters Olive, Mable, Doreen all of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Myrtle passed on January 9th, 2024 after a 2 month battle with cancer. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends in Canada and Northern Ireland.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Myrtle’s Life will be held on Friday, January 19th from 2 – 4 p.m. at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge.
