I live in Colorado and taught at Conestoga with Marilyn.  We spent many hours together in clinicals and our kids played together.  I just found out about Marilyn's passing and I feeling so very sad today.  She was an amazing woman, teacher and mother. Laurie (Struthers) Walker

Marilyn was an amazing woman, met her through her children playing soccer. Always a genuine smile for all. Years later ran into her at the college where her smile and passion was so visible, "you are Allison's mom" :). She has passed on her amazing qualities in her children. My sincerest sympathies to the Kelly family. She was a lady, pure and simple, in everything she did. I knew her first as Allison's mom and later as a fellow Soroptimist. She was always warm and caring, the best kind of person, and one that I am privileged to have known.

Marilyn was always a positive and welcoming face to anyone in the halls of Conestoga. My deepest sympathies to the Kelly family. She will always be remembered for her warmth and kindness.

I had Marilyn in my first year of the BScN program in 2008 for clinical and PBL. Marilyn was the perfect example of the kind of nurse you wanted to be. Such a caring, compassionate and genuine person. Full of positivity and encouragement. She went above and beyond they ways to shape young nurses in becoming the best nurse they could be. I will never forget her and what she taught me. She was loved and will be missed by many people.

Oh Marilyn, what a wonderful moment it was when we bumped into each other during the Women's walk to End Cancer on the ghastly morning of September 2012. We stood together at the corner waiting for the light to change while the gruesome weather covered our sights. It was a horrid day with the wind and the rain slapping us on the face. We had to cross a river of water puddles that soaked our running shoes. This all happened at the start of the walk. You were of course better dressed than I was. Consistent with your demeanour, you were kind and supportive to me. It was my first walk and you gave me the strength I needed to believe that I would make the challenge I set out for myself. You were a power walker. You walked with me for 8  out of the 32 km we had to walk that day and I was happy that you did. That moment will forever be etched in my memory. I had to let you go as I was not as strong as you were. You were a fast walker. You also had a friend with you who walked at the same speed as you and needed to move forward. You finished 2 hours before me and I remembered you asking how I made out that day. You were happy with my success. 
I am happy I had that time with you. Thank you for that moment. I met you on a different plane that day. It made an impact on me. I will always remember you.

Today I am going to say goodbye to a wonderful friend and colleague who always reminded me of the priorities in life- to love and to laugh, even when the going gets tough. Marilyn was a beautiful person inside and out. I will never forget all that she taught in that first year of nursing. She was the mother hen of our class; providing a motherly balance of caring, compassion, understanding, and "tough love." Marilyn will be greatly missed but the essence of her and her beautiful spirit will be carried forward by everyone who's lives she touched. Forever in my thoughts, Marilyn.

Marilyn was my tutor in 2010 during my first year of the BScN program. I was so shy, but during evaluations she was always so encouraging and positive. She was kind and compassionate. I learned a lot from her. I will always remember Marilyn.

Marilyn was my introduction to the BScN program as not only the level 1 coordinator, but also as my clinical tutor. My knowledge was built upon the foundation that Marilyn laid out. She set the bar high but she did so with a genuine care and concern for us to succeed and be the best nurse we could be. Remembering Marilyn ... A Beautiful Woman, Amazing Nurse, Sage Educator and an Inspiration. I was fortunate to know her and learn from her ... she will be greatly missed.

It is difficult to say farewell to friend and colleague who embodied all of the salient values and notions of Nursing. As her colleague at Conestoga College, I held her in such high esteem and always appreciated the warmth and compassion with which she approached her personal relationships with students.  She was an amazing teacher and mentor to so many. She taught with both her head and her heart. That, in and of itself is an amazing accomplishment. Today however, at the funeral home, when I met her husband Doug, her two beautiful daughters, Jess and Ali and her son, Nathan, I more fully understood the devastating impact of her passing. Sadly her grandbabies will never come to know the full richness of Marilyn. With respect, I send my sincere condolences to her entire family and pray that her joyous and adventurous smiling spirit will live on in your memories and faithfully accompany all of you in each and every future family moment.  I just know that she will be watching over you from her well earned place in heaven.

I met Marilyn in my first year of the B.Sc.N program back in 2006. She kindly lit our hearts and instilled in us the importance of care and compassion in nursing. Marilyn was a genuine soul. She was kind hearted, inspirational, and was loved by many. She will be deeply missed and remembered for all she was and all she contributed to throughout her beautiful life.

Though I never had Marilyn as a tutor in the Co-Mac BScN program I knew of her kindness and love of nursing through her coordinating the program. She will be greatly missed in the nursing community.

Marilyn trained at the Civic Hospital as I trained as a Lab Technologist. We got to know each other while attending the Rockcliffe Youth Group (R.C.A.F.). She was one of my pretty bridesmaids for Rob and I on our wedding day. We visited occasionaly over the years and kept in touch. We also visited her wonderful parents. Marilyn stopped in to encourage me this fall as I headed for a mastectomy and chemo etc....without sharing her own recurrence of the cancer. Prayers, love and giving right to the end....that's Marilyn. The Lord will have a big reward for her.

Last year, as I started the nursing program, I was faced with the decision to put my dog down. I had never had to do this before and it caused me great emotional distress. I was late coming into class and Marilyn took me outside to talk with me and calm my self before joining my peers. I will never forget the compassion she showed me in a time of great need. That is what nursing is about :)

You have touched so many lives...brought so many nurses through school with your gentle touch and loving hand...you played a very important part in shaping the nurse I have become...I would never have made it through without your care and support...I am so glad we were able to reconnect again and I was able to meet your beautiful family...I will raise a glass of cranberry gingerale in your honour! Rest peacefully.  My heart is with you all at this time...??

As a teacher, Marilyn had a special way of knowing how to reach her students.  With grace, her kind and generous spirit touched me and inspired me to use my head and heart to do the same to others.  All of us who knew Marilyn are richer for it and I am thankful for her presence in my life.  My deepest sympathy to her dear family.

Mama Kelly has been a special part of my life for the past 21 years.  She was an amazing mother, not only to J, Alli and Nathan, but also to all who entered her home on a regular basis.  There are many times that Marilyn could make the world a bit better with nothing more than a hug!  Our inside jokes were something I looked forward to and will miss greatly.  This is one special woman who will live on forever in our hearts!  I love you Mama K!

I will never forget how she made our clinical class feel so warm and welcoming. And the times she brought in banana bread to share with us. She was one of the best teachers I have ever had the luxery of learning from and I know she will be missed by many nurses. Marilyn was a beautiful soul, that has now returned to God to watch over us.

well marilyn...we go back a long ways...til mcgill and those stick slapping hooting hockey games...we usually lost but indeed in a very deep sense always won...laughter, a sense o0f play and wit..grace under fire..caring to the nth degree..value-based...teacher extraordinaire...we shared lumpy breasts, stories of survival and of life and love...your family is proud to overflow as are your friends..i include myself as one of those..courage and that amazing grin..love and a very deep bow mj mcgraw

I am filled with much sadness in the loss of a long-time friend.  I met Marilyn when we were new neighbours at Rockcliffe airbase in Ottawa and both attending Hillcrest High School for Grade 12.  Marilyn was the athletic one (volleyball, basketball ...), so we didn't see much of each other during the day, but we sat together on the bus and enjoyed each other's company outside of school.  Marilyn invited me join her and start attending a new youth group on the base. We went together to the Rockcliffe Youth Group,  and our lives were changed forever to lives of faithfulness, fullness and adventure. 
Though most of adult lives we lived a long way apart, we did keep in touch and from time to time had opportunities to visit.  We toured Jasper together in 1970.   I was privileged to be in Marilyn and Doug's wedding party with Maureen and Wendy.  Most recently we had a good visit on one of the Muskoka Lakes in 2012 and on her front step in September.  I am also very thankful for the visit at her bedside just a couple of days before she passed away.
I am sorry that I will not be at the funeral in person.  I am in Edmonton visiting my family.  Our families have been connected since 1946 when our fathers began studying together at the University of Saskatchewan.  We are still connected by many wonderful memories.  
I would like to be there to celebrate Marilyn's life with Doug, her children and grand-children, extended family and friends.  Be assured, I am remembering a vibrant woman of faith and a dear friend as you gather.  May God grant you all peace; and as the Rockcliffe Youth used to say when we said farewell to one another, “Until that day!”

To the Kelly Family, my grandmother and I are very sorry to hear of the passing of Marilyn. We will miss seeing her friendly face going on walks around the neighbourhood with her husband. My grandmother said that she would always stop to say hello, and was so friendly and kind. She will be greatly missed.

Our mother-daughter showers are something that I will treasure forever.  The fact that our daughters allowed us to met their moms I always thought was so sweet.  I will miss you lovely smile Marilyn.  It was my pleasure to know we were brought together by the loves of our lives.....our daughters.  My heart goes out to your beautiful family.

Marilyn was a dear high school friend and special "Birthday Buddy".  Although separated by time and distance, I will never forget her radiant smile and engaging sense of humour.  My sincerest condolences to the Kelly and Bellamy families for the loss of such an extraordinary person.

Marilyn was a wonderful person,  teacher, colleague and friend.   When I think of her I think of the person who did the unexpected, such as skydiving and doing the skywalk at the CN tower. She was a lover of life and will be thoroughly missed.

I miss her every day. She was always ready to take on a new challenge and inspired me greatly. I will never forget her swimming beside our campsite the first time she came to Killarney on her first canoe trip. She truly had a sense of adventure and embraced life fully!
