With tears in our eyes and sadness in our hearts we announce the passing of an amazing husband and father at the age of 94. Joseph Bukowski passed away on November 14, 2016 at Lisaard House. Born August 4, 1922 in Poland, Joseph immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Cambridge. In 1960 he met the love of his life, Theresia, in Woodstock. They soon married and grew their family. Welcoming a son, Edward (Eija) and 2 daughters, AnnMarie and Angela (Blake) into their Cambridge home, Joseph and Theresia enjoyed 55 years of a blessed and fruitful marriage. A lover of the outdoors, Joseph enjoyed spending time in his garden and tending to his flawless lawn and roses and the occasional fishing excursion. He was a dedicated member of the Polish Legion Kitchener Branch 412 and the Cambridge Polish Club Branch 627. Joseph will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and sister, Maryann, all in Poland and friends and family here and abroad. Friends and family are invited to Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge (519-653-3251) on Thursday, November 17, 2016 for visitation from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 2pm at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, 745 Duke Street, Cambridge, with interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery. For all the compassion and care given to Joseph, the family wishes to thank Dr. Skillman and Practioner Nurse, Kim, as well as the Paramed Nurses; Abbey, Joanne and Pat, Josephs favourite P.S.W’s who came to care for him every day. Donations in Joseph’s name made to Lisaard House would be appreciated by the family as they gave a tremendous amount of support and gentle care during Joseph's stay.
