Gordon owned and operated Barrys Oil Products for many years. He retired at age 55, and was able to enjoy many years of travelling and spending time with his family and friends. Gordon loved golfing, fishing, bowling (alley and lawn), playing cards, gardening, woodworking, camping, square dancing, horseshoes, badminton, and cars. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Gordon also had wise words to live by: “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all, is my advice.”
Gordon will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Rose Barry, daughters Patricia Gregorio (Doug), Lynn Thompson (Ron), Kathy Normore (Dane), and Joan Heath (Dave), grandchildren Jennifer (Jon), Daniel, Michele (Greg), Heidi, Erin, Scott, Colby, Kelsey, Michael, Joey, Katie, Danny, and three great-grandchildren Dylan, Ben, and Lucas. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Garrett Barry, and his brother Jim Barry.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road, Cambridge) on Wednesday, January 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Clements RC Church (745 Duke Street, Cambridge) on Thursday, January 3rd at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Parklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lisaard House or the Canadian Cancer Society.
