Gilles was an endeared husband to his deceased wife Gertrude Anita Doyon and devoted caring father. He is survived by his two loving daughters; Louise Vermeer and her husband Henk of Texas and Pauline Young-Davis and her husband Jason of Cambridge; Grandchildren Nikki Vermeer, Brian (Amanda) Young, Jeff (Erin) Young and Cherie Povey; Great-grandchildren; Cameron, Carson, Jasmine and Sage.
Gilles who was one of 11 children is also survived by several loving siblings in Quebec: Thérèse (Donia Roy), Marie Paul (Réal Bégin), Bertrand (Ghislaine Fortin) and Huguette (Jacques Bouchard).
Many of Gilles dearest family members have passed away including: Gertrude Doyon, wife of 63 years and loving daughter Suzanne; Parents: Antonio Labbé & Maria Turcotte; Siblings: Cécile (Ronald Traver), Jean-Paul (Mary Stasiuk), Marcel (Jane Callwood), Rita (Lawrence Thompson), Gilberte (Gérard Beaudoin) and Madeleine (Lionel Perron).
Gilles will be greatly missed by his family, many nieces and nephew, devoted work colleagues and faithful friends.
The Visitation will take place at Coutts Funeral Home and Cremation Centre located at 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Monday, October 31st from 2–4 pm and 7–9 pm. The Remembrance Funeral Service will celebrated in the Coutts Chapel on Tuesday, November 1st, at 11am which will be followed by a reception for all. Please join us for a light lunch and refreshments at The French Club, 647 Franklin Blvd, Cambridge.
As expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
He will be sadly missed… our prayer is to be reunited again with him and with all our loved ones.
