EBY, Eileen of Cambridge, passed away peacefully in her 95th year, surrounded by her family at Fairview Mennonite Home on Thursday March 14, 2013. Eileen was born in Drake, Saskatchewan on October 28, 1918. In her 20’s she moved to Ontario and worked in the homes of several families for a number of years. She then joined the staff at Fairview Mennonite Home where she worked for 27 years until her retirement. Eileen is remembered as a loving sister, aunt and faithful member of her church community. Throughout her life Eileen found great joy in living simply, serving and caring for others and giving generously. She will be greatly missed by many. Eileen is survived by her sisters Agnes Eby of Waterloo, Mary Lapp of Kalispell, Montana, Hilda (Allan) Crawford of Calling Lake, Alberta and sister-in-law Rosella Eby of Drake, Saskatchewan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews living throughout North America, including Karen Martin of St, Jacobs and Linda and Charles Kruger of St. Jacobs. Eileen was predeceased by her parents Angus and Annie Eby, brother and sister-in-law Lloyd and Jean Eby, brother Claire Eby, brother-in-law Milton Eby, brother-in-law Wayne Lapp, brother and sister-in-law Edgar and Hildegarde Eby and nephews Michael Eby and Larry Campbell. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Eileen during visitation in the Fairview Mennonite Home auditorium, on Monday, March 18th at 1:30 pm, followed by the funeral service to honour Eileen’s life and faith at 2:30 pm with Pastor Claire Osinkosky officiating. A reception will follow. Private interment at Hagey Cemetery, Cambridge at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Fairview Mennonite Home or Preston Mennonite Church would be appreciated. A very special thank you to the Fairview Mennonite Home staff for their compassionate care of Eileen over many years, especially in the last days of her life. She was truly blessed to be surrounded by such a loving community.
