Passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital at the age of 76 surrounded by his family. Doug was born and raised in Owen Sound, Ontario, until he began working at Woolworth’s, where he met his best friend, Howard Ferris. On a trip to Barbados with Howard, Doug would meet the love of his life, Gail, whom he later married. After their wedding, Doug moved to Cambridge, and they started their family and were married for 47 happy years.
Doug is survived by his three children, Scott, Chris (Lindsay) and Michelle (Aaron). He is predeceased by his wife, Gail, and his parents William and Eileen Campbell. Doug will be missed by his siblings, Marlyn McKay (Art) and Larry, along with his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gary Goad (Liz), Terry Goad (Jane), Jim Goad (Pauline), Judy Isley (Fran) and Tim Goad (Claudia).
The family would like to thank the amazing care provided by the PSW’s and Nurses at the Sunnyside Home. Visitation for Doug will be held at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road, Cambridge) on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, (745 Duke Street, Cambridge) on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 10:00am, followed by cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
