What a great man, with a wonderful wife. Happy and supportive to all that came through their home: guiding, nurturing and caring for all of them.

People like Doug and Jennifer are rare. I and my family have been blessed to have the opportunity to know them.

I was so sorry when I learned of Doug’s passing. The initial shock has given way to reality now and the keenness of the loss is sharp. 
Doug hired me into Mutual Life as a writer in the Public Affairs department. In true Doug fashion my interview was a far-ranging discussion of the world and many things I can’t even recall plus a soupçon (Definitely a Doug word) of Napoleon and military history. We worked together in many capacities over the years and he became more than a respected colleague for his editing acumen and writing smarts but a true mentor and friend. I remain ever grateful for the support, trust and encouragement as I navigated corporate life for the first time and became a much better writer as a result. 
We loved sharing work with other for the brute force honesty we both felt empowered to give because writing was for us an art and science no matter how big or small the piece. I miss that still. 
So importantly he knew and loved the culture of the company, one of integrity and concern for people to quote its historic values. He knew that people were the real engine of any success a company might have and that communicating with them respectfully and well was crucial and what we were privileged to do. 
He had such a lovely sense of play too, which came out in often bizarre jokes and stories, and one that livened his Christmas Eve ‘hat’ parties making them the most fun and memorable events I can think of. 
He was good. He believed in things. He adored his family beyond measure. He was unfailingly positive, always grateful for the life he was given. I honestly never heard him complain. 
We had affectionate nicknames for each other - his was Das or Dough - which arose from mail that had been oddly addressed to him as Das Boot and Dough Booth. Mine was Memphis (birthplace) or some twist on the Elvis theme. 
So my old friend and respected colleague Das, you will be well and truly missed. Thanks for the memories and life lessons. I owe you. 

So sorry to hear the news of Doug’s passing. I have fond memories of Doug  - particularly Mutual gatherings at the house on Caroline St.   and at Wasaga Beach when Andrew, Sarah & my son Sean were small. 

 Doug was a fountain of information tinged with humour. He loved to tease but always in a gentle way.   He will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry to learn of Doug's passing. I was a colleague of Doug's at Clarica (now Sun Life), working on advertising and communication as we became Clarica. Doug's assistance was invaluable -- always  steady, so reliable, and so respected. His command of the English language was impeccable and I will never forget his clever wit and humour. What a great friend and colleague he was! He definitely left the world a better place!

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Doug. I was fortunate to work with him on many project over the years and to benefit from
his advice and critiques of documents and speeches. He had that rare quality of being genuinely interested in whatever one was doing and adding words of advice and encouragement.

The various wine and cheese parties helped teach me more about fine wines, As a result I too joined the Opimian Society.

Doug was one of the "good ones" who made the world a better place and brightened the room with his presence.

May the many wonderful memories bring some comfort to you.
