Born June 22nd, 1930. Passed away May 28th, 2017 at Hospice Wellington in Guelph after a brief illness. A Prestonian to the core, Chuck’s life was also defined by his love for his extended family; his lifelong dedication to St. Clement’s Church; his 30-plus years of service to Catholic education as a trustee and chairman for the Preston and Waterloo Region Catholic school boards as well as chairing the Ontario Separate School Trustees Association, the Ontario School Trustees Council and the Teachers Education Council of Ontario. Above all, his life was defined by his undying devotion to the love of his life, Mary, to whom he was married for over 63 years. He died peacefully in her warm embrace surrounded by their children. Chuck had a passion for walking. Many Sunday afternoons were spent walking to Blair with his children to enjoy an ice cream cone. In his long retirement, he was a fixture at Puslinch Lake Golf Course. He loved to read, complete crossword puzzles and Sudoko and cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Chuck is survived by his wife Mary (nee Kiss), daughters Mary (Steve), Angela (Tim) and Theresa (Keith), sons Richard and David, grandchildren Greg (Stephanie), Matthew, Lindsay (Matt), Mark, Aimee (Katie), Nicole, Sean and Bryan and great-grandchildren Erica, Sean and Landon. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Ethel and siblings Jim, Joan, Bill and Freddy. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11am on Thursday, June 1st at St. Clements Church (745 Duke St., Cambridge). In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to Hospice Wellington or the charity of your choice.
