Yvonne was the cherished daughter of Maurice and Edith Bracey and a beloved sister to her brothers Chris and Lawrence. Raised in the heart of Vancouver, she embraced a life of adventure and service from a young age. Yvonne joined the Air Force to pursue adventure, which became a passport to traverse Europe. She was stationed in various bases, soaking in the diverse cultures and experiences that enriched her spirit. Yvonne dedicated herself to the workforce following her military service, contributing her talents to The Bay warehouse in Vancouver and the Calgary distribution center for many years. Her commitment and work ethic were exemplary, leaving a lasting impression on all who worked alongside her.
On February 22, 1969, Yvonne exchanged vows with the love of her life, William Stewart Evans. Together, they moved to Calgary, where they embraced the joys and challenges of marriage, welcoming their son Glenn into the world. Yvonne was a loving mother to Glenn and her three children from her previous marriage: Adele, Michael, and Sharel. Her family extended to include Glenn's wife, Karen, and Adele's husband, Bill, Michael's wife, Natasha, and Sharel's husband, Verner. Between all four of her kids, they blessed her with eight grandchildren: Emily, Dani, Cassandra, Spring, Zoe, Candace, Devi, and Stephan.
Yvonne found solace and companionship in her final years at the Brentwood Care Facility. The dedicated nurses, doctors, and care workers became her second family, providing comfort and support during her time there. She reveled in the camaraderie of her fellow residents, particularly enjoying her victories in bowling and Bocce ball.
Yvonne's wishes for her final journey were simple yet profound. She will be laid to rest at the Airdrie Cemetery on Monday, April 22, 2024. In place of flowers, she requested donations be made to the Cochrane Humane Society, reflecting her lifelong compassion for animals and her desire to make a difference in their lives.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Brentwood Care Facility, whose unwavering care and compassion made Yvonne's stay truly special. Their dedication brought comfort and peace to her final days.
Yvonne Kay Evans leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched.
May she rest in eternal peace.
