Tuong Ngao Tran passed away peacefully at the Wing Kei Care Home on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at the age of 96. She was born in the Guangdong Province of China in July of 1928. Tuong was an active member of the Indo Chinese Buddhist Association, where she volunteered her time at the temple, chatting with her friends, cooking vegetarian meals, and engaging in various activities. She loved hosting special occasions and cooking for her family and friends; making delightful dishes such as Teochew ang kueh, sticky rice, congee, chive cakes, and dumplings. Before Tuong came to Canada, she owned a business in Vietnam, where she worked as a seamstress, customizing dresses, clothes and garments.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children and their families: her sons, Ly Phuoc Xuong, Huynh An Binh, Ly Phuoc Loi, and Tang Vi Nhi, as well as Ly Phuoc Khon and Trinh Hue Quan. Tuong would want to mention her god-daughter Samantha Trinh (Dan) and her children Derrick (Denise) and Savanna. Tuong also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Jimmy, Tammy, George, Sammy, and Emily. Her great-grandchildren, Emerson and Dominic, will also cherish her memory.
Tuong was predeceased by her husband, Ly Kim Luong, and her oldest daughter, Ly Le Chau.
A Buddhist Prayer Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL (3220 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta) on Thursday, October 17, 2024 beginning at 5:30 p.m.
A Funeral Service to honour Mrs. Tran will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with cremation to follow.
