Ramdasia Narain (Dassy) beloved wife of Kumar Narain of Lethbridge, Alberta passed away at Covenant Care St. Marguerite Manor, Dulcina Hospice, Calgary on Monday 22, April 2024 at the age of 96 years, 6 weeks shy of her 97th birthday.
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our darling beloved mother. She was the cherished and beloved wife of Kumar Narain (deceased April 24, 2017), mother of Mrs. Ahilya Ganesh (Jaikarran Ganesh, deceased), Dr. Kishan Narine (Dr. Astrid de Boeck) and Mrs. Sina Umadat (Mr. Indrajit Umadat), grandmother of Ms. Seema Ganesh, Dr. Vishal Ganesh (Mrs. Jessica Ganesh), Dr. Nirvani Umadat (Dr. Kevin Vong), Dr. Vivake Umadat, Ms. Seema Narine, Ms. Kirti Narine, Mr. Nand Narine and Mr. Sid Narine and great grandmother of Ellitsa, Jai and Alex. she was predeceased by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Dassy was born in Georgetown, British Guyana, South America to her parents who were from India, and she attended the Sisters of Mercy St. Joseph Convent Secondary School in Guyana, where she lived with her beloved husband until they permanently emigrated to Canada in 1981 to join their children. She dedicated her life to being our mother and the wife of our father to whom she was married for 67 years until his death in 2017.
Dassy was an exemplary listener, known for her quiet demeanor, soothing smile and accepting nature that left everyone in her presence with a feeling of relevance and worthiness. Her pride and joy was her family. Our love for her is immeasurable. Her joy in life for almost 97 years and her love for us will forever be in the souvenirs of our hearts, that of her surviving sisters, her nieces, her nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service for Ramdasia will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB T2M 3A5.
