We are coming upon a year without you my beautiful mother and I want you to know how much you are missed each and every day.  Your sister Mary will be joining you soon and the 3 sisters will all be together again.  Some days are really hard without you and so I talk to you anyway and hope that you are listening.  Love you forever and miss you so very much.

Auntie Millie, you were such an amazing woman. So loving, kind and caring, just a beautiful soul all together. I will miss you forever. I know you are up there next to Grandma and Great Grandma Feicht looking down and watching over your beloved family. I love you Auntie.

You Will be Remembered - Tribute by Debbie Hauck

Hi everyone, thank-you for being here today to celebrate the life of my dear mother Millie Thomson.  For those that don’t know me I am Debbie the eldest of four children and Millie’s only daughter.  Our family Alex, Wayne, Daryl and Les are honoured and thankful for your presence here today.

My mother was one of the most amazing people 
I have ever met and will probably ever meet.
She spent her life caring for others,
She never put herself before others.
She would often go out of her way to reach those who were in need.
She was also often a counselor when the times called for it.
I knew I could come to her no matter what the reason or circumstance.
I loved her with all my heart and will truly miss her.
Mom was born on March 1, 1939 in Tatagwa, Saskatchewan.  Don’t look for this town on a map because it no longer exists.  She was the second child but first daughter of Frank and Regina Feicht.  She had three brothers (Ron, Bob and Danny) and two sisters (Mary and Betty).   She attended school in another small Saskatchewan town called Khedive.   She was a brilliant student and worked hard to achieve top grades.  Mom and her brother Ron were very close and were in the same class.  This is because Ron tells me that he was too scared to attend school without Mom.  They both were very competitive in school but he tells me that she usually beat him out in her grades.  
Mom graduated from high school in 1956 and immediately moved to Regina to work at Sask Tel as an operator.  This was the start of a life-long career in the telephone industry.
Shortly after her move to Regina her parents moved to Assiniboia, Saskatchewan where they opened a shoe repair shop.  On one of her visits home she met my dad and they decided to move to High River, Alberta.   They were married and shortly thereafter they had me and then my brothers Wayne and Daryl.  Mom continued to work for AGT and grew her career.  She usually worked evening shift so she could be home with us during the day.  I don’t know how she managed at times with three small children, a house to run and a full-time job.  But she did it all and very well I might add.  She always kept a clean home and cooked wonderful meals usually with homemade desserts.  
In 1970, she was blessed with another baby Les (our little brother).  My aunt Betty and I were disappointed it was another boy but it turned out pretty good having another brother. He ended up being best friends with my cousin Jeff (Betty’s only son).  So, we luckily ended up with two younger brothers.
In 1975 my mom and dad separated and later divorced closing one chapter of her life and beginning the best days of her life.   She married Alex Thomson her soul mate on August 12th, 1977.  Alex and mom had a wonderful marriage and they were both extremely devoted to each other and would have celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary this year.
There are so many things I want to tell you about mom but I would have to write a book as she had a full life and was constantly on the go - either by helping others, entertaining or on the golf course.  
Family came first to mom and she was an amazing caregiver and always cherished each one of us.  Mom always remembered everyone’s Birthday and made sure that she prepared a special dinner and purchased a gift that was carefully selected for them.  Each and every holiday celebration was prepared and planned by mom and Alex.  
As we grew up we spent a lot of time camping with the Turner families.  We all had a great time with all our cousins.  Mom always tells one story that we would laugh about.  One camping trip to White Rock BC my brother Daryl insisted that he show mom something ``really neat``.  So she followed him through the bushes into this open area that was overrun by slugs.  They were everywhere.  He thought it was so funny when mom went screaming and running away.  Anyhow, Daryl wasn`t too popular for some time after that.
If there was an angel on earth – it was my mom.  Along with her sisters they cared for their aging mother.  My grandmother told me that she had the best daughters on earth.   The relationship that they all shared was more than enviable.  I knew that my goal in life was to strive to be a good daughter and a loving mother to my children; I wanted to be just like my mother.
Another very important part of my mom’s life was her friends.  And she certainly had alot of them. 
People she worked with over the years (she worked for 29 years for AGT/Telus). These co-workers continued to be part of her life through the TELUS Ambassadors’ (a volunteer organization) that she was an active member.  They participated in many projects such as bake sales, handing out stuffed animals at the Children’s Hospital, making heart pillows for patients, teddy bears for the Children’s Cottage and much more.
Mom also had numerous golfing buddies.  She was a member of two golf clubs over the years – Confederation Park and McCall Lake.  She developed some very strong relationships with Gail, Brianna, Loretta and Eleanor as part of the ladies leagues.  And I am sure the list goes on....
But it doesn’t stop there she also golfed with her husband Alex and many other great friends.  They travelled to California probably 10 times and spent an entire month golfing, walking on the beach and enjoying many “happy hours”.  Mom loved to golf and seemed to never get enough.  When planning her California vacations she would set her alarm each morning to wake up and book her tee times.  You could only book one tee time per day and only so many days in advance.  She ensured that they did not miss an opportunity to be on the golf course.  I had the privilege to meet some of her many golfing friends – Shirley and Don, Carol and Terry, Maureen and Don, Marge and Bob while she was in the Rosedale hospice.  I know that there were so many more as she received phone calls daily from friends that were travelling and friends that lived in distant cities.  Rosedale Hospice staff indicated that she had more visitors than all the other patients combined.  
Mom also enjoyed her vacations – she was fortunate to have travelled 10 times to Hawaii, a couple trips to Arizona, once to Barbados and a couple times to Mexico.  She also enjoyed an amazing cruise to the Panama Canal with Alex to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. They both talked a lot about that vacation, they had a fabulous time and memories that Alex will cherish for the rest of his days.
In 2006, my husband Dave and I were so thankful to have mom, join us and other family members on a two week vacation in Huatulco, Mexico for our wedding.  This was one of the best times of our lives and we have so many great memories. We will never forget the day we travelled inland a couple hours to a small town called Pichula.  It was bustling Mexican town where tourists typically did not travel.  We chartered two taxi cabs one with Aunt Mary, Brenda and Gib, the other Mom, Dave and I.  About an hour into the trip on a dusty Mexican road the taxis pulled over.  Knowing that Mexico is not known to be very safe and the fact that we were not part of any tour, I think mom panicked a little.  She looked over at our non English speaking taxi driver and said “Problemo”.  He smiled and said “No problemo” and we burst out laughing.  She was so cute, we all teased her after that when she was nervous or upset and would say “Problemo” and she would retort “No Problemo”.
The last few years have been difficult for our family.  First the passing of our grandmother, then my dear aunt Betty and now our beautiful mother.  Mom first battled breast cancer when she was 54 years old.  She won that battle and remained cancer free until 2005 when she was first diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  
She fought hard over the past couple years but began to lose her battle in late March of this year. She was admitted to the Foothills hospital on April 1 and then 5 days later moved to the Rosedale Hospice.  
Her last days were about love and sharing memories with friends and family.    I thank her for the memories, the laughter, and the support and love that she gave me each and every year of my life.  But I especially thank her for the amazing times we shared on her final days.  I will cherish these moments for the rest of my life and until we meet again.

You will be remembered when the flowers bloom in spring.
And in the summertime remembered

In the wintertime, remembered, in the stories that are told 
And you will be remembered, each day right from the start 
For the memories that we once shared

My Millie, the most caring, generous and loving of all people. She loved family dinners and get togethers. Millie had a love for life and a passion for golf. Her family came above all else and never complained in the most difficult of times. I remember the good times and the places we traveled and the fun we had. I love you and will miss you as long as I am here.

To my dearest mother in-law, How can I put into words how much you have meant to me? I met your daughter shortly after the passing of my own parents. You and Alex have filled such a hole in my heart,  I have always felt so loved by you and was so honoured to call you Mom. You have taught us so much about love and family, and always led by example. Your memory will always be cherished and held close to my heart. There can be no goodbyes here as that would be unbearable ! Instead I will  leave it at TILL WE ALL MEET AGAIN.

I worked with Millie at AGT/Telus for many years. She was a respected coworker and good friend.  Millie loved her family and always talked fondly about them.  Her face would light up when she would talk about her husband Alex. She will be missed by us all.  My sincere condolences to the family.

I am deeply touched by Millie's dedication to McCall Lake Wednesday Ladies Golf Club last summer. While Millie knew that she had her serious health issue, she still carried out her volunteer work as Assistant Stats Analyst for the club while I,as the club's Stats Analyst, had to be out of town to take care of my gravely ill father until his passing. I am glad that she was well enough to be at our club's year end luncheon meeting last September. As soon as we saw each other in the luncheon meeting, we hugged as if we were sisters comforting each other. I will miss golfing with her.
