Born on Jan. 01, 1950 in Muszkowo, Poland. Mary immigrated to Canada with her family in January 1966, where they settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This is where she met the love of her life, Michael Edwards. The two were married in November 1972 and relocated to Calgary, Alberta, where eventually their daughter Michelle was born.
Mary and Mike embraced a life filled with travel and adventure. With Mike’s work at Fluor Engineering they moved to South Africa, where they enjoyed many safaris, the beauty of the African landscape, animals and birds during their time there. Their journey continued to Bakersfield, California, where Mary enjoyed sunbathing by the pool and traveling to other places in California and a few visits to Las Vegas. The family then moved to Sugar Land, Texas, before eventually returning to Calgary. Over the years, Mary and Mike’s travels took them back and forth between Texas and Calgary.
When Michelle was expecting her second child, Mary and Mike returned to Calgary to be closer to their daughter and granddaughters, Charlotte and Isabella, whom Mary adored more than anything. Mary was a proud grandmother (Baba) and a constant presence in their lives, always helping around the house and creating lasting memories with her granddaughters.
Mary had a very special talent for gardening, transforming every home into a peaceful sanctuary filled with lush plants and vibrant flowers. Mary and Mike spent many evenings outside in their garden; enjoying a glass of wine and watching the birds flourish in the space she so lovingly cultivated.
Known for her incredible cooking, Mary delighted in making homemade lasagna and preparing fondue dinners. She cherished conversation and time spent with loved ones and friends they made throughout their travels.
Mary also had a fulfilling career, working at Eatons in Winnipeg, Woodwards and later at the Hudson’s Bay Company in Calgary. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, leaving behind many beautiful memories and a legacy of love, warmth, and caring.
Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael, their daughter Michelle and husband Jesse, her beloved granddaughters Charlotte and Isabella. She is also survived by her sister Donna, nieces Oksana (husband Mike, children Zenya, Nykola, and Mylana) and Marijka (husband Glenn, children Danylo and Maksym).
Mary will be deeply missed but will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of all who have had the privilege of knowing her.
