Marija Preskar

Marija was born September 16, 1945 in Zorkovac, Croatia. After many letters back and forth and at the age of 18, Marija came to Calgary, Alberta to finally meet and marry Alois. Marija was a loving wife and a devoted mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was her family and her love language was making and serving food. She enjoyed bringing everyone together sharing her loving hugs, constant, infectious smile and her fabulous meals. She was known for her random acts of kindness and her generous spirit. She loved with all her heart and she made everyone feel special and cared for. Marija was a wonderful friend, a great neighbor and a humble woman who was adored by all who met her. She loved her flowers whether in her garden or inside her incredible home. Marija tended to her flowers with great passion and enthusiasm just as she did her family and friends.

Marija is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years Alois, her sons: John in Calgary and Eddie in Surrey, British Columbia; one granddaughter, Maeve and two grandsons, Jordan and Kailar. Her sister Biserka and her children in Croatia, her brother Ivan, his wife Boya in Calgary and their son Frank and his wife Chandra in Calgary. She was predeceased by her son Piter, who passed away six months prior to his mother’s passing.

Marija will be dearly missed by all. We know that her son and angel Piter, was there to greet his mom. For all who have known Marija, we now have two angels smiling down on us.

A private service to honour Marija’s life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel.
