Len Doi Ho Yee

He was predeceased by his father, Hong Bell Yee, and his mother, Sook Thiu Yee. Len is the beloved husband of Alice, dearly loved father of Beverly Yee, Stephen Yee, Gordon Yee (Yuen), Helen Erickson (Fred), Stanley Yee (Lisa), and Diane Yung (Gerald) and much loved grandfather of Justine Erickson, Melanie Yee, Ryan Erickson (Emily), Tracey Yee, Thomas Jay Yung, Mark Yee, Peter Yee, Victoria Yung, Jacob Erickson, Nathan Yee, Justin Yee, Sarah Yee, and Matthew Yee. He is also blessed to have a large extended family, including an older and younger sister as well as a nephew and niece. Len loved getting the family together for celebrations; the larger the gathering, the better. Len was born in Toi Shan, China January 5, 1929 and came to Canada on May 1, 1953. Excited to build a bright future for him and his soon-to-be wife, he worked hard in preparation for his wedding day when he and Alice married in Saskatoon on December 21, 1955. They ran a business in Moose Jaw, SK and welcomed their first two children. Len moved his young family to Calgary where his family grew to six children. He ran a successful grocery store and floral business and also worked as a realtor. In Calgary, Len served for many years as President of the Yee Fong Toy Society and was well-respected in the community. He talked often of the importance of family and the value of contributing to the community. Len exemplified these values throughout his life. Papa, Yeh-Yeh, Gong-Gong, we will miss you very much. The Yee family would like to give special thanks to the wonderful community of caregivers that provided so much support: our home care nurses, Roberta McGillivray (seniors home care) and Robin Lyons (palliative home care) and to the CBI caregivers, Richard, Kit, and David.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen's Park Cemetery.
