The Voice of the High Country
John Digney passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital after a brief illness. He is survived by Phyllis, loving and devoted wife of 68 years; sons Greg (Bonnie) of Cochrane and Rod (Gloria) of Ottawa; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by parents Clement and Mary Ella, and brother Roderick. Born and raised in Edmonton, John served in the RCAF as an Instrument Maker during WWII. After the war, he enjoyed productive sales and broadcasting careers with Fisk Tire, CFAC and CHFM, Sproule Bearing and as founder of Casterland. A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 3:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to a charity of one’s choice. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
The Voice of the High Country may now be silent but his spirit will forever echo throughout his beloved Rocky Mountains
