Jack Donald Heikel passed away at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary on July 10, 2013 at the age of 73 years. Jack is lovingly remembered by his wife, Yvette; his son Eugene (Juanita) deVries and grandson Jacob. He is also survived by his sisters Myra Gitzel, Marlene Stefan (Robert), June Linder (Martin) and Dorothy Bolduc (Raymond); brothers Paul, Louie (Bonnie), Robert (Lorraine) and Laurence; sister-in-law Loretta as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was predeceased by his dad Louie, his mom Hilda, step-mom Lily, brother Leonard, brother-in-laws Harold Gitzel and Otto Stefan.
Jack was born in Beaverlodge in 1939. As an adult, he moved to Edmonton and worked in the oilfield. He moved to Calgary in his retirement. Jack was an avid baseball fan and spent many hours cheering on his favorite baseball team “the Toronto Bluejays”. Jack will be sadly missed by many.
A Funeral Service was held at South Calgary Funeral Centre in Calgary on Saturday, July 13, 2013.
