It is with sadness that I announce the passing of my friend, István (Steve) Mészáros, at the Rockyview General Hospital, on 2022, August 19, from from Covid-19 complications.
István was born to Bartos Anna and Bauer Károly on 1936, August 02, in Budapest, Hungary. István came to Canada as a refugee in 1957, after the tragic 1956 Hungarian Revolution. He spent most of his life in Calgary working for the Calgary Public Library and the City of Calgary’s Transportation Department. István retired from the City in 1995.
He will be missed forever by all his friends and acquaintances that had the opportunity to know him. I hope and wish that he is in a happy place, where ever that may be.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in István’s memory to the Calgary Human Society at https://www.calgaryhumane.ca or to 4455 110th Avenue SE, Calgary, Alberta, T2C 2T7.
A Memorial Service will be held, Covid permitting, at a later date.
