Irene (Thorvaldson) Wright

Sveinfridur Margaret Irene Wright (nee Thorvaldson) was born in Riverton, Manitoba to Sveinn and Kristin Thorvaldson. She was predeceased by her parents, 21 siblings and by her beloved husband John “Jack”. Irene and Jack shared 56 years of marriage creating a tight family unit as they moved and settled in 15 homes across Canada. Mom worked her magic creating a home for her family and building strong friendships. Through the years, even those years while Irene struggled with Alzheimer’s, Irene remained cheerful, gracious and kind. Mom encouraged her children and grandchildren to live their own lives and follow their dreams. She always maintained that she and Dad had lived their lives on their terms and it was our time now.

Irene is survived by her loving children Shelley (Gary) McReynolds, Leslie (Dave) Maginley, and Kent (Marlene) Wright. Amma will be forever cherished by her grandchildren, Jane (Matt) Beauchamp, Beth (Josh) Strukoff, Amy Maginley, Greg Maginley, Kevin (Sarah Barbosa) Maginley, Steven (Andrea) Wright and Shannon (Spencer Cohrs) Wright.

Irene and Jack lived some of their happiest years in Fairmont, B.C. where the visits of family and friends filled their days with happy times. A private family ceremony was held May 4, 2019 at the Fairmont Evergreen Cemetery.
