We very sadly announce the sudden passing of our Dad while driving home from a Manitoba vacation. Dad was born to Sidney and Margaret Hazelwood in Stoney Mountain, Manitoba. Dad met Mom, Blanche Champagne in Winnipeg and they were married in 1951. Mom and young son Douglas moved to Calgary while Dad served with the Lord Strathcona Horse which he proudly served for 23 years. His tours included Korea, Egypt, Cyprus and Germany and he retired in 1973. Dad joined the R.C.M.P. in 1973, served for 20 years and retired in 1993.
Dad was predeceased by his loving wife, Blanche of almost 60 years in 2011. Also predeceasing him were his parents, his brothers Sid and Alex, and his sisters Gladys and Louise.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by sons Doug (Angie), Dale and daughter Wendy; sisters Margaret Cooney, Doreen Stansfield (Jim), brothers Michael (Audrey), George (Marg); grandchildren Jayson, Casey, April, Tracey, Jessie (Brent), Codie (Preston) and several great-grandchildren.
At Fred’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.
