Eleanor Lucille Bell passed away peacefully on August 23, 2022, in Calgary Alberta at the age of 96 years. Loving wife to the late Robert F. Bell (P.Eng); dear mother to Robert (Kim), Donald (Roxane) and Murray (Rudite) Bell; devoted grandmother to Joseph, Michaela, Matthew, Jeff, Christopher, David, Katie, Julian and Charlotte Bell. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Annie Bergh, and leaves to mourn her loss her devoted sister Lorraine MacDonald (late Howard). Eleanor was the youngest winner to receive the Gold Medal from Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music for Grade 10 piano examination, at only age 16. Eleanor became an accomplished business women after graduating at the top of her class at Henderson Business College, and started her career in the insurance, legal, and oil and gas industries. After marriage in 1950, and starting a family, Eleanor and Bob called Cambrian Heights home from its beginnings in 1959 until she entered long-term care in 2016. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church with her unfailing love of the Lord. Eleanor could often be found with a grin on her face in her greenhouse and garden, with her passion for plants, gardening, and of course, her cats. She enjoyed penny stock trading, a skill that kept her very sharp over the years. The family would like to express our deepest thanks for the exceptional care she received at Intercare Brentwood. A funeral service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street NW, Calgary on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM with Reception and graveside service to follow. The service will be available virtually upon request.
