Doug passed away peacefully in his sleep in Calgary, Alberta on the morning of Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the age of 90 years. He was a kind and caring man who loved his family dearly. Always there for us, cheering on our accomplishments, big or small, with his ever famous “Way to Be!”
Surviving Doug to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Donna, his children Janice (Andrew Jonsson), Jim (Tamera) and his three beautiful grandchildren: Alysse, Jaden and James. Doug is also survived by his brother-in-law David Kinloch, his nieces Deborah, Diana, Heather, Jennifer and Pamela, his nephew John and their families. He is predeceased by his sister Gene and brother Bruce.
Doug was born, raised and spent his career in Edmonton. He was an accomplished diver in his youth which led to him meeting his future wife. Doug was a Customs Broker his entire career and together with his sister, Gene, ran Gene Eby & Associates until his retirement. With his children and grandchildren living in Calgary, Doug and Donna moved to Calgary to be closer to their family.
At Doug’s request there will be no funeral service. A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consideration of a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at https://www.heartandstroke.ca would be greatly appreciated.
