After years of being lost in the wilderness of Alzheimer’s, Dorothy Murray has joyfully found her way home. Dorothy passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at the age of 90 years. She went to be with Jesus, her Lord and Saviour and reunited with the love of her life, William Grenville Murray.
Dorothy is survived by her loving family, son Rob (Cheryl) and daughter Lorraine (Darryl). She will be deeply missed by her grandsons David (Trina) of Saskatoon, Rob (Eliza) of Vancouver, Steven of Calgary, and Murray (Shyla) of Calgary. She is survived by a precious great-grandson Liam Murray. She leaves behind her twin sister Marjorie Sorenson of Seattle, her younger sister Kay Faulkner (Donald) of Vancouver, brother-in-law Claude Leeks of Taber, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Genevieve Strange, eldest sister Anne Leeks, and an infant nephew David Sorenson.
Because of her unwavering faith, she left a rich faith heritage for her entire family. The family wishes to express their profound gratitude to the staff of George Boyak Nursing Home for their kind and loving long term care for Dorothy, especially in her last years.
A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory, to the Alzheimer's Society of Calgary, #201, 222 – 58 Ave SW, Calgary, AB T2H 2S3 or directly to the charity of your choice.
