It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, David James McKellar of Calgary. David passed away peacefully at the age of 85 years on Saturday, April 2, 2016. He is survived and will be forever remembered by Marilyn, his loving wife of 63 years; his children Kim (Arlene), Rod (Sue); grandchildren David (Roopa), Stacy, Christopher (Jenny), Lindsay (Zachary), Jody and Leanne; as well as five great-grandchildren. David was predeceased by his father, mother and son, Steven James McKellar. He was a man of quiet strength, truly devoted to his family with a love and passion for our Lord Jesus Christ which continued throughout his life. David was always happiest outdoors spending time gardening, which was a shared passion both him and Marilyn enjoyed. However, his greatest passion of all was spending time with his family, hiking, camping, snowmobiling or boating on Mara Lake. He was a dedicated employee with Gulf Canada Resources for 38 years. A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor David Schiedel officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Parkinson Alberta 102, 5636 Burbank Crescent S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1Z6. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
