Caroline passed away peacefully at Southwood Hospice in Calgary on April 13, 2020 at the age of 80 years. Caroline will be lovingly remembered by her children Linda (Duncan) Ripley and Kevin (Robyn) Olton and her cherished grandchildren Stephanie Ripley (Jordan Lee) and Craig Ripley. She will be deeply missed by her extended family on the east coast who she remained in close contact with throughout the years.
Caroline has made many wonderful friends and enjoyed long lasting and meaningful friendships within her neighbourhood and through church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Caroline was born and raised in St. John, New Brunswick where she met and married her true love, George Olton, with whom she enjoyed 54 years until his passing in 2013. Together with their children, they set out for Calgary in 1969. Caroline became a proud Calgarian in every way including her love for the Flames, but always called the Maritimes “back home.”
Her greatest joy was found in the role as a Wife, Mom and Nanny. She enjoyed attending all her families activities from dance to hockey to soccer, and was always in our corner. Her faith and her Church community were a constant source of happiness. She was very involved with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and participated in many activities and happily donated her time and effort to her Church.
Our family would like to thank everyone involved with her care at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Southwood Hospice as well as Dana with Wecare. Your care and compassion during Caroline’s illness was extraordinary.
A church service will be announced at a later date, when we all can gather and celebrate her life.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to a charity of your choice.
