Betty Ann "Bettyann" Gillespie passed away in Calgary on June 27, 2016 at the age of 60 years. Bettyann was adopted into the arms of Stan and Edith Gillespie and spent her early years growing up on the family farm near Oyen, AB. She was sharp at school and couldn’t wait to spread her wings further afield. Bettyann called Calgary her home for most of her life, but enjoyed several years in Yellowknife, NWT where her circle of friends grew. During this time she held many successful positions, where her dedication and leadership shone. Working as a manager at various jewelry stores, Bettyann touched the lives of many, finding just the right piece and encouraging customers to loosen their purse strings. Bettyann is sadly missed by her brother Jack (Allison) and fondly remembered by her dear friend Viola among many others. The staff at Paris Jewelry and many shopkeepers at the North Hill mall were considered among Bettyann’s extended family. Bettyann was predeceased by her parents Stan and Edith. A Memorial Service will be at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, donations may be made to Variety Childrens’ Charity of Alberta online at www.varietyalberta.ca/donate/. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
