He is survived by his partner of 27 years Dianne Boa, stepdaughter Alison Laycraft (Jeff), stepson Andrew Boa (Christine), and granddaughter Shae-Lynn Laycraft. Alex is also lovingly remembered by his sister Olivia Hamilton (John), nephew Greg Belanger (Elizabeth), great nephew Aidan Belanger, and by extended family members in Edmonton, Montreal and Vancouver.
Alex lived in Montreal for much of his life where he worked as a mechanic. In the early 1990's he moved to Calgary where he finished his working career with Calgary Transit. Alex was helpful and generous to family and friends. He is known for rescuing numerous cats and dogs over the years and donating to animal charities. Alex enjoyed life by spending time with family and friends, going out for nice meals, watching movies, and following his beloved Montreal Canadiens and Alouettes.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 3:00 p.m.
