Adele was born to Ruth and Sam Taylor on December 5th, 1926 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. After graduating from high school, Adele ventured to Montreal, Quebec and received her nurse’s training.
She married the late John Bell in 1951 and, due to John’s job, lived in many places across Canada. She is survived by her daughters, Heather (Stuart Dinsmore), Sandy and Cannie (Dan Mawson); by her grandchildren Kelly (Garland Jonker), Corene (Dan Rutledge), Laura (Nate Jespersen), Sarah (Shaun Gerber), Tess, Luke, Joel and Gabrielle; and 11 great-grandchildren. Adele was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Sam Taylor, her sisters Betty (Frank Butler) and Margaret (Rene duCloux) and her loving husband, John.
Adele was devoted to her family. One of her greatest challenges was making houses feel like home every time a move happened. We’re not sure how she managed this…cookies always in the cookie jar, knitting, sewing and needlework projects appearing, CBC on the radio (Peter Gzowski and ‘Saturday at the Met’ playing loud and clear), and always a clean and well organized household. She was amazing in how quickly that home could be established. In the end, it was probably Adele doing what she did best, providing a loving and safe place for her family to land no matter where she was.
Adele was a strong Anglican, a steadfast member of the congregation, and always backed her belief up with service. Her faith anchored her and gave her great comfort.
You’re loved and missed, Adele.
The family will be memorializing Adele this summer in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Our thanks is also extended to the wonderful staff at Father Lacombe Care Centre for the love and care shown to Adele.
