Mona Margaret Mitchell

At 27 years old, Mona and her three daughters; Natalie, Shawna and Amber moved to San Antonio in 1977. In 1979 while attending the Floresville peanut festival she met her husband John Paul Mitchell. They married in December of 1980 and spent 45 loving years together until her death. Johnny was Mona’s devoted caretaker through her battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, never leaving her side.

Mona was predeceased by mother and father Bernice and Johnny Shannon, brothers; Johnny Dell, David and Billy, sisters; Rachel, Bonnie and Emily Shannon. Mona is survived by her husband Johnny Mitchell, daughters, Natalie McAndrew Laughlin and her husband Dale, Shawna McAndrew Cavazos and her husband Johnny Cavazos, daughter Amber McAndrew Edwards and son Cody Mitchell, ten grandchildren: Mitchell and Matthew Edwards, Dustin Davis his wife Lacee, Kyndall Cowley and husband Tyler, Kenzie, Bryson and Cash Laughlin, Madison, Mackenna, and Kennidy Cavazos and her great-grandchildren Cason, Ropton, Clayton, Kynler, and TK. Her brothers and sisters Lynda Pogue, Cassie Davidson, Rocky Shannon, Toni Moya, Patty Salazar, Nikki Porras, and Shane Shannon and several brother and sister in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Mona Mitchell will be laid to rest on Thursday, June 13th. Visitation will be held at one o’clock pm, followed by a funeral service at two o’clock at the First Baptist Church located at 325 San Gabriel in Bertram. Internment at Bear Creek Cemetery immediately following.
