Born on September 24, 1946, the second son to Donald Dee and Lillian Evans Barnett, Ken grew up in Burnet, TX attending Burnet High School where he developed a passion for learning and a love for sports that would shape his life and the lives of many others. Ken graduated Burnet High School in 1965 and went on to study at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in History. He served his communities for more than 40 years in education, shaping the lives of young men and women through scouting and public education.
Ken married Bonnie Joyce Barnett on Jan 25, 1969. He and Joy would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this coming January. Together they share 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Dee Barnett and Lillian Evans Barnett, brother-in-law Randy Wallin and sister-in-law Ellen Barnett. He is survived by his wife, Joy Barnett of Burnet, Daughter Clairissa Holland and husband Matthew, Son Ashley Barnett and wife Candace all of Burnet, TX, Erin Rodgers and husband Neel of Prattville, AL. Grandchildren Emily Rodriguez and husband Keith of Cypress, TX, Jacob Holland and wife Shannon of Lubbock, TX, Joel Holland of Kyle, TX, Dustin Barnett and husband Cody of Lubbock, TX, Katie Barnett of Norman OK, Garrett Frank of Hearne TX, Elissa Barnett of Burnet, TX, Rebekah Walley, Thomas Walley and Timothy Haydn Rodgers all of Prattville, AL, Great grandchildren Emerson Holland of Lubbock TX, and John Ryan Rodriguez of Cypress, TX, He is also survived by his brothers Donald Barnett, Jr of Cleveland, TX, Phil Barnett and his wife Susan of Burnet, TX, and sister-in-law Sabrina Wallin also of Burnet, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Arrangements handled by Clements-Wilcox, Burnet. Visitation is November 2, 2024 at 2:00pm. Service to immediately follow at 3:00pm and interment will be at Bluffton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to The Shriner's Hospital, or Autism Speaks.
