Geneva Easter Merkel Hahn, 85, of the Oatmeal Community, passed away February 14, 2017, in Conroe, TX. Geneva was born on April 5, 1931, in Valley Springs, TX, to Jake and Ethel Wisdom Cox Merkel. Geneva married her beloved Jack B. Hahn on February 8, 1958, in Burnet, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, her parents, and her grandson, Robert Hayes. She graduated from Llano High School and was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Burnet, TX.
Geneva was an Endowed Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Burnet Chapter 425; a charter member of the Llano Pioneers Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas; a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The Children of the Republic of Texas awarded her Grandmother of the Year. She was an active member of the Burnet County Republican Women’s Club. She was involved with the Marble Falls Senior Center and enjoyed spending time with her special Hill Country friends. She was a member of Heart of Texas Music Association of Brady and she enjoyed traveling and listening to the music.
She was a wonderful wife, Mother, Granny, and Great-Granny. She lived life to the fullest. All who loved her knew that she enjoyed dancing.
Geneva is survived by her six children and their spouses, James and Wanda Roberts of Little Elm; Theresa Roberts of Bryan; Gina and Steve Kovar of Cypress; Tina and David Keener of Sweeny; Leesa and Mike Crowl of Conroe; and Anson and Cheryl Hahn of Burnet; 16 grandchildren and their spouses, Toby Roberts; Jody and Amber Roberts; April Holcomb; Crystal and Rob Elolf; Autumn Holcomb; Cortney and Matt Chastain; Joe Wade Holcomb; Stephen and Caley Kovar; Grant Keener; Jaclyn Crowl; Blake and Monica Keener; Kevin Crowl; Elizabeth Hahn; Heather Roberts; James Roberts; Alexandra Hahn; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Geraldine Christopher, of Granite Shoals, and by many loving family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be her sons-in-law and grandsons.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at First Lutheran Church, 133 Apollo Dr., Burnet, TX. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the memorial immediately following at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the service.
