PFC Anthony Michael Nunn, 19, of Burnet, Texas, died May 30, in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.
Services for Anthony will be held at Hill Country Fellowship Church. June 8, 2011 at 10 am. Burial will be at Oakhill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Anthony was born in Harris Methodist Hospital, Fort Worth TX on January 9, 1992. Anthony’s elementary years were spent in Goldthwaite, TX. Anthony’s middle school years were spent in Prosper, TX. The rest of his school years, before going into the Army, were in what he considered his hometown of Burnet, TX. Anthony had lifelong friends everywhere and he treasured and loved everyone he ever met. He was known for his enormous hugs and his huge smiles that he gave away happily to everyone.
Anthony joined the Army in June 2010. Anthony loved the army and everything about it. He was always a protector of those that he loved and his country. In the short time that God gave us, he fiercely was devoted to fighting for our freedom. We are extremely proud and honored to have him in our lives.
His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon, Bronze star, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge.
Survivors include Ted Nunn of Gainesville, TX, Christina and Steve Bennefield of Prosper TX. Brother, Matthew Nunn of Gainesville, TX, Sister Savanna Nunn of Prosper, TX, also sister Kayla Bennefield of Prosper, TX., brother Stephen Bennefield, Gainesville, TX., grandparents Keith Fontaine of Adamsville, TX., Martha Vasquez, Goldthwaite, TX, and Earl Nunn, Sr., of Lampasas. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, cousins, and a numerous amount of honorary brothers and sisters.
