Dr. Patrick Chung-Man Cham

Patrick is survived by his wife, Gigi; daughter, Jennifer; and son, Christopher. He is preceded in death by his parents and one of his brothers.

Patrick was born in Hong Kong. He graduated from one of Hong Kong’s regarded Catholic High Schools and then immigrated to Canada. He attended St Mary’s University in Halifax, NS, before transferring to McGill University. He graduated from the McGill Medical School in 1968. He moved to Calgary and completed his internship there. That is where he met Trudy. They married in 1971 and settled in Vancouver, BC. He opened a medical practice in Vancouver and together they raised their two children.

Later in life he met Gigi and they married in 2010. He is remembered for being a helpful and caring soul who loved tennis, running and going on cruises in his retirement years.

Patrick was a well-regarded, well-rounded family physician who delivered many babies early in his career.

As his practice became busier, he stopped obstetrics and devoted his time to his busy family practice. He accepted many new arrivals and new Canadians into his practice. Though the politics of medicine caused frustration, he was always passionate and dedicated to the clinical side of medicine.

A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Ocean View Cemetery, Burnaby, BC, with a private reception to follow. Condolences can be sent to www.oceanviewfuneral.com
