It is with great sadness that the family of Ivan Cikes announce his passing on February 18th, 2023 at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife Klara, his daughters Angela, Ivana, and Diana, and his granddaughter Tatiana.
Ivan was born in Žeževica, Croatia. He left his homeland looking for a more prosperous life for his family. First arriving in Edmonton, he worked hard to help bring his brothers and fiancé to join him. Eventually moving to Vancouver, he immediately set his goal to create a centre for his community, diligently raising funds and organizing the construction of the Croatian Church. Ivan proudly worked for Canadian Airlines for over 30 years.
He will forever be remembered for his love for his family, his wit, and his much-loved homemade wine.
Ivan's life will be remembered at the church he helped build, the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Croatian Catholic Church, 3105 E. 1st Avenue, Vancouver, on Monday, March 6th at 11:00 am.
