“The girl from Kogarah Bay”
October 27, 1927 – January 9, 2015
Our parents are at long last together again, peacefully enjoying listening to ‘Madame Butterfly’. Mom rejoined our dad and said ‘good-bye’ to her loved children, Kerry (Danne), Teresa, Ted (Holly), and Mathew (Joyce), and precious grandchildren, Janine (Jeff), Ben (Kristy), Evan, Andrew, Brin, Samantha, and Bradley, on the morning of Friday, January 9, 2015.
Born and raised in Kogarah Bay, mom leaves behind many loved family members in Sydney, Australia. Our parents were married in the family church of ‘Old Souls’ in Leichardt, Sydney. As a young bride she said ‘good-bye’ to her Australian family and began her new life in Vancouver with our dad. Mom happily embraced life in Canada and loved the snow covered mountains. She loved her home and excelled at cooking, baking, canning, sewing and family dinners. Our home was always open and welcoming. Her gardens were spectacular and received recognition. Our parents enjoyed many passions together… family, love of travel, music and the simple things of life. Together they worked very hard for the good of our family.
Mom never lost her ‘Aussie’ passion for sports and was a great hockey fan. Her grandsons enjoyed many discussions with her about the latest proceedings. Always eager for a mental challenge, she loved her crosswords and academic shows. Mom leaves behind a wonderful legacy of a love for family, the home, life, gardening, and music.
We send her off with love and a sense of peace that our parents are now together once again.
