Theodore Eugene Franklin, DVM, '41, 98 years old, died Thursday, May 26. He was born Jan. 30, 1918 in Wichita, KS. A veterinarian, he graduated from TAMU and later earned his MS in veterinary pathology. His primary career was with TAMU's Dept. of Veterinary Microbiology and Agricultural Experiment Station Veterinary Div. and in leadership for two United Nations FAO projects in the Dominican Republic and Tanzania. After retiring from the state of California in 1986, he moved back home to Bryan plunging into a life full of volunteer activities. He also faithfully attended many A&M baseball games at Olsen Field, even those brutal February night games. A proud member of 'The Was Club'; they met every Saturday morning to address current issues of the day.
He is survived by three children, Betty Franklin Harrelson of Erie, CO; John E. Franklin of Lynchburg, VA; Joseph W. Franklin of Independence, TX; a brother, William F. Franklin of Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, in addition to nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmina E. Sustala Franklin, and four children; Mary Anne, Martha, Judy and Janis Franklin.
A memorial service is planned for 11 :00 am June 18 at the Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
