Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sunday, December 9 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday with a rosary service at 2:00 p.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd.
Raymond was born September 21, 1921 on the Fickey Ranch in Kurten the son of Joe and Alma (Heinz) Fickey. He began his elementary education at Fickey School, attended Kurten School in Junior High and graduated from S.F.A. in 1939. Raymond proudly served our country in the U.S. Army Air Corps “Night Fighters” during WWII and was honorable discharged in 1945. He met the love of his life Alice on July 5, 1948 in Dallas and they were married that same year in November.
Raymond owned Falstaff Distributing and F&F Vending and Tobacco Company for over 20 years. He was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served on the Knights of Columbus for 76 years. Raymond was a member of the Sons of Herman for 75 years, S.P.J.S.T for 50 years, and the American Legion Earl Graham Post 159 since 1945.
The Fickey Ranch was established in 1878, and always has been maintained by the Fickey family. Raymond took great pride to continue living on and maintaining the land where he was born and where he died.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alice Fickey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Sonny and Corrine Fickey, Lawrence and Irma Fickey; brothers-in-law, Antone Stevener and Louis Ponzio; sister-in-law, Lill Fickey; son-in-law, Matt Seymour; and grandson-in-law, Jody Goodrum.
He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Fickey and Bo Baker; grandchildren, Jason Seymour, and Brooke Seymour; great-grandchildren, Mason Ray Seymour, Paityn Nicole Seymour, Ashtyn Graceann Seymour, Trace Ford, Jake Goodrum and Jon Goodrum; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Dorothy Fickey; sisters and brother-in-law, Jolene Broach and Herman Lange, Irene Stevener, Charlotte Ponzio; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Raymond would like to thank his personal physician, “Dr. Jack Daniels” for the years of care and comfort, it provided.
