In the late evening hours of Saturday, April 9, 2016, Patricia Ann Scarmardo passed away at home surrounded by family and friends.
Born on November 14, 1955, in Houston, TX, Patricia grew up spending time with her grandmothers, who instilled the importance of love and compassion for family, friends and animals. As a young child she loved farm chickens and fresh garden vegetables, a passion that remained with her throughout her life. Eventually her family moved from the big city of Houston to the Bryan countryside. Patricia was active in 4-H and went to nationals in poultry judging competition. She graduated from Bryan High School in 1974 and married her high-school sweet heart, Bill Scarmardo a few days later. They were married 42 years and shared a life of traveling adventures; yet one of their greatest joys was their two children and grand-daughter.
She starting working for her father in their family-owned rental business at the age of 13. With her parents, she started a local Party Rental store over 40 years ago. Her father taught her from an early age to work with purpose, compassion and a servant’s heart. She fostered a loving work environment that was centered around family and was endeared by her employees.
She was an active member of the community and helped pave the way for women and small business owners by her dedication and love for the community. She was a founding member of the Bridal Association of the Brazos Valley and the first women president of the Bryan Noon Lion’s Club. She served as a board member of the chamber of commerce and the Better Business Bureau.
She was daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, friend and confident to many.
She was a woman of faith that would always lend an ear, yet never hesitant to share her soft spoken quick wit.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Scarmardo; her children, William Scarmardo and Ed & Melissa Rhodes; granddaughter, Ruth; her parents, Cullen and Patti Mancuso; siblings, Vince Mancuso, Charlie and Cindy Mancuso; and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.
