Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Santa Teresa Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Bryan City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 pm Friday with a 7:00 pm rosary at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Celebration of life reception will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church Parish at 700 East 26th Street, Bryan Texas 77803.
Octavio Álvarez also known as Tavio, was hard working person started at age of 10 selling gum and newspapers at the plazas. Later in life his passion became cooking and becoming a chef! Tavio was a humble person who loved to help others in need! Dad loved to bring family together and have cookouts! Devoted father and caring brother and loving son! He was welcoming person to anyone he never meet a stranger. Big fan of spurs and Dallas cowboys! Dad was selfless person thinking of his kids before himself! Dad LOVED his beer! He was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, but lived most of his life in Bryan, Texas.
Octavio is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ricardo Martinez and spouse María Soledad, paternal grandparents, Octavio Alvarez and spouse Cecilia Malagon.
He is survived by his parents, Fransico and Maria Dolores Alvarez; daughter and son-in-law, Veronica and Pete Leija, son and daughter-in-law, Octavio Jr. and Karla Alvarez, son and daughter-in-law, Gary Lee and Johana Alvarez, daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Alvarez and Edward De La Rosa, son and daughter-in-law, Jessie Alvarez and Lorena Rodriguez; mother of his children, Paula Alvarez; brothers, Juan Martinez and spouse Linda, Francisco Alvarez II, Ricardo Alvarez and spouse Maria, Jose Alvarez and spouse Diem, Enrique Alvarez and spouse Terry Green; sister, Cecilia Alvarez Ellis and spouse Ric; grandchildren, Diego Leija, Alyssa Leija, Gary Lee Alvarez Jr, PJ Leija, Mia Isabella Alvarez, Kylie Ariana Alvarez, Anthony Jay Alvarez, Aiden Anthony De la Rosa, Ariana De la Rosa; and numerous other family members.
