A visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan on Monday May 4, 2015 from 5 to 7 P.M. with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 P.M. at the Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday May 5, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Minnie was born to Richard Edgar Elliott and Pauline (Zweifel) Elliott in Brazos County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother William (Bill) Elliott. She is survived by her husband Charles; daughter and son-in-law, Rose and James Finchum of Dickinson, Texas; a brother Richard L. Elliott of Bryan; a sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Charles Todd of Tabor; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
Minnie graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1956 and was employed by Parker Astin Hardware in Bryan. Later she took a position at News Office Supply. She married Charles Gardner on April 27, 1957. A few months later they moved to San Antonio and later to Houston where she worked for and retired from the U.S.D.A.
Minnie will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed her church, family and friends, and traveling with Charles after she retired to be with him while he was working at Cape Canaveral, Florida for NASA.
The family would like to thank Brazos County Precinct 4 Volunteer Fire Department, Bryan Fire Department EMS, Brazos County Sherriff’s Department, and the nurses and doctors of St. Joseph’s Hospital Critical Care Unit Section A.
In lieu of flowers and in Minnie’s memory, Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, Funeral Meals Fund, School Fund, Church Building Fund, or to a Charity of your choice.
