Ken provided 27 years of dedicated service to Texas A&M University as a skilled plumber before retiring in 2007. He took great pride in his work. He was highly valued and respected by his employer and colleagues. Following his retirement, he returned to work and continued to contribute part-time.
An avid outdoorsman, Ken found immense joy in nature. Some of his most cherished moments were spent at the deer lease, surrounded by friends and family. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed bowling, playing dominoes, watching old westerns, crafting, and playing cornhole. Ken could also be found in the garden growing cucuzza. A true Aggie at heart, in victory or defeat, Ken enjoyed watching Aggie football and cheering for his team.
Ken was known for his selfless nature and unwavering willingness to help others. He was the kind of friend you could always count on, someone who would be there without hesitation. His family held a special place in his heart, and he was immensely proud of their accomplishments. Memorable moments included watching his oldest grandson Jason Jr graduate from Texas A&M University, as well as traveling to support his grandson Joe as he competed in professional cornhole competitions. Ken, along with his son Kenneth Jr, daughter-in-law Wendy, and Joe Tyler would hit the open road almost every summer, racking up miles and memories as they managed to explore all 48 landlocked states. His roles as a father and Paw Paw Ken were ones he took great pride in. He found immeasurable happiness in witnessing each one of their journeys, celebrating their achievements, and sharing in their everyday moments.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Joe Milton Saladiner, and his mother, Mary Ann Restivo Saladiner. He leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by his sister, Frances Lynch, and her husband, Stanford Lynch; his eldest son, Kenneth Jr., and daughter-in-law, Wendy, along with his grandchildren, Tallie, Joe Tyler, and Shelby; his son, Jason, and daughter-in-law, Jenna, along with his grandchildren, Jason Jr., Scarlett, and Luca; and his daughter, Kendra. Beyond his immediate family, Ken is also survived by a large and loving extended family and circle of cherished friends.
The kindness, generosity, and passion for the outdoors that Ken shared with the world will live on in the memories of those who knew and loved him.
