Glenn Roger Scott, 71, affectionately known as “Papa”, went to be with the Lord March 2, 2021 after a month-long battle with COVID. The prayers and love provided during this time have been a gift from God and will continue to carry his family in coming weeks. The family truly feels lifted up and loved by each and every text, prayer, meal, social media comment, phone call, card and thought. Thanks to each and every one of you for the love shown during this difficult time.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday March 5, 2021 at 3:00 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1200 Foxfire Drive, College Station, TX 77845. The service will be livestreamed please see below for the link for those unable to attend in person.
Glenn was born June 16, 1949 in Houston Texas to Jewel Scott and Mary Basden. He graduated from Waltrip High School and shortly after, married Jeannette Dantin on August 1, 1970. In Houston, Glenn spent much of his career as an automotive paint salesman. Glenn and Jeannette recently celebrated fifty years of marriage with a drive-through parade of loved ones. Glenn was a youth director, softball coach, board member, bar-b-que team member, and held many other roles at St. Philip Lutheran Church in Houston.
He loved the outdoors his entire life and spent much of his time hunting, traveling with family and grilling food for loved ones. Glenn took his son, Travis, hunting for many years and always dreamed of owning his own hunting property in Texas. He attained that dream this past fall.
Glenn and Jeannette raised two children, Tracy and Travis in Houston. In 2005 they moved to Bryan, Texas to be with their kids and grandkids. They were blessed with three grandchildren, Nicole (18), Harper (14) and Nathan (13) and spent much of their free time with their children and grandchildren and many friends.
Glenn and Jeannette joined Holy Cross Lutheran Church after moving from Houston and Glenn was an active member, an Elder, usher and served on many committees. They made many great friendships at Holy Cross who have lovingly supported them in recent weeks.
Glenn enjoyed his retirement working in his yard and ushering part time for Texas A&M Athletics, where he loved the chance to talk to everyone he met and watch sporting events. He may not have attended Texas A&M as a student but he was an Aggie through and through. He was working on his Associates Degree at Blinn when he passed.
Glenn is preceded in death by both of his parents, Jewel and Mary. He is survived by his wife, Jeannette of fifty years, his daughter Tracy (Scott) Foster and husband Mark, his son Travis Scott and wife Amanda. Granddaughters Nicole Foster and Harper Scott. Grandson Nathan Foster. Brother Ken Scott and wife Karen, Aunt Fern Basden and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Cross Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
